NASCAR Goes West

5.11 Tactical and NASCAR partnered in 2013 when we became the Official Tactical Apparel and Gear Supplier of NASCAR.  Since then our relationship with NASCAR has continued to grow.

For three consecutive weeks, “NASCAR Goes West” brought racing excitement to the West Coast with races at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway and Auto Club Speedway.  In 2015 we  became the title event sponsor of Pole Day at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.  Continuing the partnership with the Fontana race being “in our back yard,” this was a great opportunity to be part of the action and once again Friday’s race was named 5.11 Tactical Pole Day at Auto Club Speedway.

At Pole Day OCSD Captain Wayne Byerley waved the green flag for the qualifying race.  After the race our CEO Tom Davin and Marketing VP Jan Willem Driessen presented the winner, Austin Dillon with the 5.11 Tactical Pole Day trophy made from a 5.11 breaching tool.

With one of our first ever retail stores being located only 20 miles from the track, many NASCAR Officials stopped by our store in Riverside, CA for a special event after Saturday’s race.  This provided us a great chance to interact with the officials who wear the gear throughout the demanding 10-month race season and show our appreciation by giving them a limited edition NASCAR Fontana t-shirt.  Being the Official Tactical Apparel and Gear Supplier of NASCAR, we have found our way beyond NASCAR officials being a natural fit for motorsports team uniforms with the great fit, function, flexibility of our pants, shirts and jackets.  Throughout the event weekend we hosted over 500 VIPS at the Riverside store location.

5.11 provided tickets to a Facebook fan for the weekend events.  Also 5.11 dealer, Turner’s Outdoorsman, hosted an in-store promotion using race tickets as a gift with purchase when buying 5.11 apparel and gear.  All weekend it was easy to see that fans of NASCAR are also fans of 5.11.  We appreciated hearing so many positive comments from people at the track in support of the brand.  The 5.11 logo was visible on track turf, track billboards and along the pit road wall near the winner circle.

5.11 had a great presence at the track all weekend with our logo painted onto the track turf and signs in pit road and on fences.  The race had an exciting ending when the two California drivers Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson were battling for first.  Jimmie Johnson ended up taking the lead, winning it all.
